The Touche Stats Data is Now Public

Hi all!

You may have noticed that I haven’t posted anything about fencing in almost a year. Last year, I graduated from high school, and since going to college, I haven’t had much time to fence. This makes me sad, but at the same time, college has been great, and I’m overall happy.

I haven’t worked on Touche Stats in a while because it makes me nostalgic for when I used to fence. Moreover, I’m not as connected to the fencing community as I used to be. Because of this, I decided that it would be best if I shared the data with the fencing community so that others could analyze the data and continue what I was doing before. This is not to say that I will never work on Touche Stats ever again. But currently, I don’t have any ideas for new projects.

You can find the data in this GitHub repository, along with the code I initially used to collect and clean it. It has all the pool and DE bouts from national tournaments between 2016 and 2020. The only request I have is that if you use the data, please give attribution—I spent a lot of time working on this project. Feel free to contact me on Reddit or submit an issue on GitHub if you have any problems.

Enjoy analyzing!
